Guidelines for Master’s Students
Requirements on years of study and credit hours
- Years of study: One to four years
- Minimum credit hours: 24
- Required courses: According to the Meeting of the Master’s Program in Biomedical Sciences or the Program’s Teaching and Curriculum Planning Committee.
- If students of this Master’s Program wish to take the education-related program, they must complete the requirements of this Master’s Program before they can apply for the educational internship.
Confirmation of faculty advisor
- The faculty advisor must be a full-time faculty member of this program.
- Students must submit their document of Confirmation of Faculty Advisor before the deadline, and the office of this Master’s Program will make an announcement later on.
- When necessary, a Meeting of the Master’s Program in Biomedical Sciences will be called to discuss matters related to the confirmation.
- In case a student requests a change of faculty advisor, the applicant must fill in the Request for Change of Faculty Advisor and obtain approval from both the current faculty advisor and new faculty advisor, and then receive final approval from the program director or Meeting of the Master’s Program in Biomedical Sciences.
Pursuing a Ph.D. degree before completing the Master’s Program
- Students who plan to pursue a doctoral degree before completing the Master’s Program must follow Tzu Chi University’s Procedures for Pursuing a Doctoral Degree before Completing the Master’s Program.
Taking the Degree Examination
- Eligibility:
(1) Student must participate in related conference(s) at least once, making a poster or oral presentation as first author of the thesis, or publishing a research paper in an SCI journal.
(2) Student has completed all required courses during the semester in which the application is submitted and scored 70 or more on each course.
- Follow Tzu Chi University’s Rules for Master’s/Ph.D. Students to take the Degree Examination
- The final oral examination score
(1) The score is the average of scores given by all committee members present. If half or more than half of the members gave scores lower than 70, the student will be considered having failed the exam.
(2) The perfect score is 100, and 70 is a passing score.
- Should there be anything relevant to the student, yet not explicitly listed in these guidelines, the student may refer to Tzu Chi University’s Rules for Master’s/Ph.D. Students to take the Degree Examination.
Other matters
Should anything not be mentioned explicitly in the guidelines, such as registration, enrollment, retention of admission, leave of absence, reinstatement, change of name or age, violation(s) of school regulations/rules, graduation requirements, etc., the student may refer to Tzu Chi University’s Academic Policies and Procedures.
